Mojave AmpWorks' Coyote Head is a top of the line tube guitar amplifier head. It's up there with some of the best guitar amp heads that I've ever used, especially for a modern day amplifier. The amp has two 1/4" inputs in the front for both a low and high sensitivity input. In the back, it's got 1/4" inputs for a line output, and two 8 ohm and one 16 ohm speaker cable outputs. The line output has it's own volume knob as well. The amp delivers 12 watts of power at the maximum, but it has a parameter that allows you to set the amount you'd like. The amp is a tube based one, with EL84 tubes.

UTILIZATION

The make up of the Mojave AmpWorks Coyote Head isn't too difficult to understand. On the front panel it's got main parameters for tone, and separate volume knobs for both bass and treble. It also has a 'power dampening' knob, which allows you to set the amount of power in terms of watts to between one and 12 watts. It also has switches for on/off, bypass, a switch for mid cut/mid emphasis. While it's definitely got some out of the ordinary parameters, a manual shouldn't be necessary for most users, as this is pretty easy enough to use without any assistance.

SOUNDS

The tone of the Mojave AmpWorks Coyote Head is absolutely outstanding. Don't be fooled by the fact that this only outputs 12 watts of power, as this has a ton of volume to it. It has a vintage type of sound for sure, with a full bodied tone and a good amount of room to play around. I've used the amp with a Fender Stratocaster, and the Coyote Head really emphasized all of the great things about the Strat. I used the amp for a clean tone, but it definitely isn't difficult to get a little bit of crunchy overdrive with this amp.

OVERALL OPINION

Without a doubt, the Mojave AmpWorks Coyote Head is one of the best amps that I've used in a while. Mojave AmpWorks is a little known company, but they have a really impressive line of boutique guitar amplifiers. These Coyote Head is very expensive, as it's definitely marketed towards professionals, but if you can afford one of these, you'll be getting an incredible sounding guitar amp head that should last as lifetime...
